The International Federation of Football History and Statistics has established the All-Time World Coach Ranking between 1996-2009. Juande Ramos is in 25th place in a list which is led by Sir Alex Ferguson. Juande, with 16 points, is the third Spanish Coach, following the current Spain Manager Vicente Del Bosque who is in 11th position and Liverpool Coach Rafa Benitez, in 13th place.
Juande Ramos ranked ahead of other Spanish coaches such as José Antonio Camacho in 28th place, Luis Aragones or Guardiola, who share 41st position. The last Spanish coach to be classified is Javier Clemente in 44th place.
These figures show Juande’s professional success, particularly during the last four seasons, taking into account that during this period, stipulated by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics, Juande has won the Copa del Rey twice (2006 and 2007), the UEFA Cup twice (2006 and 2007), the European Super Cup (2006), the Spanish Super Cup (2007) and the Carling Cup (2008). A total of seven Cup titles between May 2006 and February 2008, these statistics have been the key to establishing a strong position in the final ranking.
The rules governing how the list of best football coaches in the world was decided are given on the IFFHS website:
“The best club coaches will frequently become national coaches and these coaches often resume as club coach after working for a national team. It is therefore logical to draw up an all-time ranking which unites both categories of coach. It is possible to draw up an all-time world ranking of the best coaches from the annual world votes from 1996.
In order to determine the all-time world ranking of the best coaches, the results from the annual “Top 10” in both categories of coach were taken into consideration, awarding 10 points for a 1st place, nine points for the 2nd place and so on…By totalling the points received since 1996, the All-Time World Coach Ranking will be extended annually”.
Following these guidelines, the top three coaches in the world have been named: Sir Alex Ferguson, Marcelo Lippi and Arsene Wenger.” |
